Prayer Encourages Prayer

Église Evangelique Baptiste de Baie-Comeau, Baie-Comeau, QC

January 15, 2011

The Baie-Comeau Evangelical Baptist Church is situated in a town at approximately 200 miles north-east of Quebec City. It is located in the vast Manicouagan region, which includes the largest hydroelectric dam in the world, with its multiple vaults and foothills. The church has an attendance of 100 people.

The pastor and board members made the decision to hold prayer meetings every day on the church’s premises. A lady who is a member of the church faithfully cares for this initiative. Every morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., a worship and prayer meeting is held. About 5 to 7 peoples glorify God and intercede for his people. Out of this prayer initiative, a new ministry of prayer has begun.

A year ago, a new prayer meeting was organised, and it is held once a month. From 5:00 a.m. to midnight, 5 to 15 brothers and sisters fast and pray. The pastor, Jean-Pascal Besret, says that “when fasting, even partially, we show how committed we are when we pray.” From that important prayer ministry, yet another has emerged. This new one is aiming to the less fortunate. Several members of the Baie-Comeau Church are involved in a Saturday lunch where about 15 to 20 people come to share a meal and to have a chat with Christians, who present their faith in Jesus.

The church has witnessed several conversions. Some people have also been delivered from alcohol abuse and from substance addictions. Most importantly, God’s people see how he is at work, supporting and encouraging the congregation in this special prayer ministry. This church is also excited to be involved in the Fellowship 24-7 prayer initiative.
