Encouraging life-changing meetings with God

At Southwood Community Church, we believe that prayer is a vital and intimate meeting point between God and his people. Therefore, we have embraced prayer as one of our seven core values. Our prayer team leads and encourages prayer by organizing two special prayer events each year. These have included several concerts of prayer, 24-hour prayer vigils and a one-day prayer retreat. The elder’s wives meet monthly to pray for their husbands and other needs of the church. Our prayer team meets every Sunday morning before the service to pray for the church.
Additionally a weekly prayer email goes out to the whole church to communicate specific requests. This email also includes several “Families of the Week” and a “Missionary of the Month” to ensure that we methodically pray for everyone each year. This communiqué has been beneficial in connecting people and growing in our love for one another. We have seen several people survive cancer and others have expressed deep gratitude for the strength and encouragement that they have received from the Lord. This year we are looking forward to being part of the 24-7 prayer initiative of the Fellowship and implementing fasting as part of our prayer ministry.
