(Sidebar) Sowing the Seed Update

In our digital age, one would think the Bible’s accessibility was without question. However, among two people groups — Muslims and Francophone peoples — this is not always the case.

On the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, our Fellowship of Churches wanted to celebrate the gift of God’s Word and its ability to transform people. During the Sowing the Seed project (May-August 2017), we challenged Fellowship Churches and people to give generously towards a $60,000 target to provide Scriptures to:

  • Sindh, Pakistan, to contribute to the translation of the New Testament into the Sindhi language by 2020.
  • Ottawa/Gatineau, reaching Muslims and Syrian refugees among the 38,000 Arabic-speaking people in this region.
  • Dondon, Haiti, for the distribution of Bibles through our partner, Salem Christian Church.
  • D.R. Congo, for the distribution of Bibles to people and pastors throughout the region, where many churches do not possess even a single Bible.

We are pleased to report that over $50,000 was raised and funds have been distributed to help complete each of these four projects. A big thank you to those who generously gave to this project!
