SMT: Fellowship International

People - Baetz, DanFellowship International is our Fellowship’s “Gateway to the Nations.”   I was appointed Director of Fellowship International in October 2008, and have the honour of visiting Fellowship International’s various fields and missionary personnel. I also have the privilege of representing these men, women and families across Canada.

I was raised in a Christian home. My father became a ‘second career’ pastor at age 40.  I received my B.Th. and Masters in Missiology and served as a pastor in Saskatchewan, Quebec and Ontario as well as serving as a missionary in Quebec.

My wife Bev and I have six children. Three are now in post-secondary education and three teenagers are at home.  Our family is bilingual, and we enjoy music and sports – especially soccer!

What does Fellowship International do?

We facilitate cross-cultural and international ministry for The Fellowship. Our goal is to establish reproducing, Christ-centred churches in least-reached communities.  To this end we help to administer the complexities of living internationally—visas, finances, health, children’s education, vehicles and a host of other details.   We lead and administer FAIR (Fellowship Agency for International Relief) with forty humanitarian relief projects scattered across the globe that link to our churches or partners.

We provide missions coaching for churches seeking to have ownership and effectiveness in their missions strategy.  We also help to train and facilitate effective and impactful short-term missions trips for our churches and regions. In addition, through LeadersFor we organize opportunities for pastors to serve and train national workers in eight countries with opportunities for many more.

What challenges is Fellowship International facing?

  • Financial support for new missionaries Ben and Krista Taylor (Poland) and existing missionaries Carole Allard and Guy Leduc (France).
  • Implementing the Global Adventure Program at Heritage College and Seminary for the 2011/2012 school year - a year-long missions course culminating in several weeks of overseas service.
  • Treating Canada as a ‘mission field’ and seeing new missionaries raised up to serve along reassigned personnel in partnership with our Regions.

What prayer requests does Fellowship International have?

  1. That the Lord of the harvest would send forth workers into the harvest field – double our number.
  2. That the Pakistan field would have new workers to help bring in the abundant harvest.
  3. That God will use Connexion (our short-term missions program) and the JBEQ International teams to help our young people commit to vocational missionary service.
