Remembering Ernest Keefe

1929-2011

People - Keefe, ErnestErnest Keefe was looking for a great career with the National Hockey League. During a match, he was seriously injured, to the point that he began to think about his relationship with God, and he made the decision that changed his life forever—the decision to follow Christ. After his convalescence, he continued to have great success in hockey, but God called him to be somebody greater.

Ernie became one of the pioneers of the Gospel in Quebec, in the most challenging days of persecution in that province. He was arrested for having distributed Bibles in Asbestos-Danville, but he persevered and started a church in that town. Ernest went on to pastor in Trois-Rivières, Montreal and several other regions in Quebec.

There are so many ways in which Ernest Keefe served his God. The directors and students of SEMBEQ are grateful towards God for all the gifts of Mr. Keefe. He was a pastor, an evangelist, a church planter and a key player in church transition in Quebec. He was a teacher, a writer and a theologian. The churches of Quebec will miss Ernest, but they are grateful for his many contributions and the heritage left to the churches of his well-beloved province.
