Project Kick Start Update

“Whatever happened to…?” In the fall of 2010, the first phase of KICK START, our Fellowship’s National Project, was introduced. We take a look back on one of the churches that made up that first project to see how the Lord has been working.

West Village, Langford BC

Chris Synesael is the church planting pastor of the West Village Church. With the support of Fellowship Pacific and Saanich Baptist Church, he was able to fulfill the dream of reaching out into West Village. In February 2011, the first core group meeting was held with an attendance of 25 people. On Easter Sunday of that year the first public meeting took place with 115 in attendance. Over the months, hundreds of people, including many non-Christians have shown up to participate in various events.

West Village is now renting space in the Cineplex Theatre building in Langford, a facility that allows them to accommodate up to 300 people—their goal for 2012.

The core group has raised over $40,000 to go toward start-up costs. Chris writes: “We have some key leaders who share with me the vision of community groups where we are living life on mission together. These groups have a specific purpose of helping everyone reorganize their lives around the mission. Many people are connecting to West Village through our Community Groups before they ever come out to one of our public meetings.” (Nexus Newsletter, September 2011).

As of March 30th, 2012, this year’s Fellowship National Project, Kick Start 2: On the Road has received $69,000 from our churches across Canada in support of our newest church plants.
